Vendor facts for agencies

The facts a town, county or agency needs to buy from or rely on Rail Crossing Atlas, on one page.

Who runs the atlas

Rail Crossing Atlas is run by Tan Solutions. Tan Solutions is the only seller. The atlas is independent of the federal and state agencies that publish the records. About the atlas.

What we offer

The public crossing pages, maps for members, guides and weekly record changes are free.

Every document shows the date of the data it uses (“Data as of”) and a report number on the cover and on every page.

Data sources

  • FRA Highway-Rail Crossing Inventory: we check it every week. The date of the copy in use is on every crossing page and document.
  • FRA highway-rail incident reports, from 2016 on. Sources gives the latest year covered.
  • U.S. Census Bureau 2025 state outlines, for the locator maps.

Sources lists every source with the date we last retrieved it.

What data we keep

If you create an account, save crossings or contact us, we keep what you give us to provide that service. Detailed visit records are deleted after 30 days; we keep summary counts that contain no identifiers.
